The vaccine was developed so fast, I just don’t know…

The vaccine technology was YEARS in the making, from before 2005. Scientists have been studying ways to fight the coronavirus since 1980, perhaps before. Money from the government and charities made it possible for scientists to work together, share their YEARS of research and make the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine quickly. The technology behind the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was first developed in 1796!

Still, is the government experimenting on us?

Nope. Prior to the 1970’s there were cases of medical experiments on people that was not ethical. In fact, it was wrong and shameful. While those painful memories live on, for decades, there have been EXTREMELY strict guidelines on how new medications and vaccines can be tested. By the time a doctor recommends a medication or vaccine, it has been tested by willing participants and is safe.

The COVID vaccine has been tested on many people, who all agreed to receive it, and wanted to be the first to receive it.

Did you get the vaccine?

Yup. So did my wife, my sister, my parents and most of my friends. I recommend it to just about everyone.

Will the vaccine make me sterile?

NO! It will not make you sterile. That MYTH comes up every time there is a new vaccine.

Do I really need the vaccine?

Oh yes. There is a new variant called the “Delta” strain which seems to be more deadly and spreads faster. At the same time, people are not wearing masks as much. Now is DEFINITELY the time to get protected.

Does the vaccine really work?

YUP! It’s really, really, really effective. Yes, some people will still get sick with the vaccine, but very few.

I heard some people die after getting the vaccine.

317 million doses have been given in the United States (June 21, 2021). Rates of severe reactions is very, very rare. For example, there have been many stories about blood clots and the vaccine. Rates of this side effect is 7 per million women between 18-49. However, rates of blood cots when having severe COVID-19 is closer to 1 in 10 !
